About the Office

The Chouteau County Treasurer's Office is responsible for collecting, safeguarding, and distributing county funds. The office collects property taxes and other county revenues, manages county investments, and maintains financial records.

The Treasurer's Office is also responsible for:

  • Collecting and distributing property taxes

  • Processing annual vehicle registrations and titles

  • Collecting non-tax county revenues

  • Disbursing county funds for approved obligations

  • Investing county reserve funds

  • Maintaining records for taxes, licensing, and school district ledgers

Property tax payments may be made at either the Treasurer's Office or the Motor Vehicle Department until 4:30 p.m.



Property Taxes

The Treasurer's Office collects property taxes and maintains property tax records for Chouteau County.

Tax Due Dates*

REAL PROPERTY:

1st half: Last day of November

2nd half: Last day of May

MOBILE HOMES:

1st half: Last day of May

2nd half: Last day of November

PERSONAL PROPERTY:

Due on last day of June

*Subject to change based on revisions, protests, assessments, etc.

  • Penalty and Interest starts the day following the due date.

  • Tax Liens are attached the first working day of August.

Vehicle Title & Registration Services

The Motor Vehicle Department provides vehicle title and registration services for Chouteau County residents.

Please note: The last motor vehicle transaction is accepted at 4:30 p.m.

Before You Visit

Please bring:

  • A valid driver's license

  • Your vehicle identification number (VIN) or license plate number

  • Businesses must provide proof of residency and an Employer Identification Number (EIN)

The Chouteau County Motor Vehicle Department does not issue driver's licenses.
